FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when will the event take place?

The Summer School will take place 8-10 September 2026 in Zurich, Switzerland. Event locations will be ETH Zurich's central campus as well as venues at Energie 360° in Zurich. Participants are expected to be present for the entire duration of the program. Please note that this is a full-time, immersive event, and it is not possible to work or pursue other studies in parallel.

Can I participate at the Summer School without having a venture idea?

It is not required to have an established venture or funding; pre-seed projects are welcome. However, we prefer participants who already have an idea or are interested in turning their current academic research into a venture.

What makes a winning application?

We love people and ideas that have the potential to have a massive impact. We want to understand how you imagine you can apply your research and what you need to get there!

Can we apply as a group?

Yes, but only two applicants per groups, proposing the same business idea.

Can I participate if I am not affiliated to ETH Zurich, TUM or TU Vienna?

Yes! We are looking for participants from across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), and we also encourage applications from individuals throughout the rest of Europe.

What is the participation fee and what is included in it?

The participation fee for the Summer School is CHF 300. This includes access to the full program, as well as coffee breaks, lunches, and dinners. Accommodation, breakfast, and travel to, from, and within Zurich are not included. Participants are responsible for arranging and covering these expenses themselves.

Can I cancel my participation after payment?

Yes, in theory you can, although we’ll be sad to not have you joining the program. In case of cancellation, the registration fee is not refunded. We kindly ask you to inform us as early as possible if you need to cancel, so that any freed-up spots can be offered to participants on the waiting list.

What is the language of the Summer School?

The Summer School will be conducted entirely in English. All lectures, workshops, and materials will be in English, so participants are expected to have a good working proficiency in the language.

Will I get a certificate?

All participants who complete the program will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Are the participants responsible for arranging accomodation?

Yes, participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. However, we have reserved a room contingent at a youth hostel in Zurich. Accepted participants will receive detailed information on how to book these rooms.

Do I need a visa to attend?

Depending on your nationality, you need a Swiss Schengen visa to travel to Switzerland. All visa procedures remain in the participant's responsibility and must be arranged prior to arriving in Switzerland. We are happy to provide an invitation letter for your visa application upon request. Please note that as a participant of the Summer School, you will not be a degree-seeking student of ETH Zurich.

Will photos or videos be taken during the Summer School?

Yes, photographs and video recordings may be taken during the event for documentation and promotional purposes, including use on websites, social media, and in printed materials. If you prefer not to appear in any media, please inform the organisers in advance.

What is the liability policy for the Summer School?

The Summer School organisers do not accept liability for any personal injury, or for loss or damage to participants’ property (or that of accompanying persons), whether occurring during or as a result of the program. Please note that registration fees do not include insurance. By registering and paying the participation fee, you agree to these terms and conditions.
